A Brief Introduction of
Artistic Circle of Painters in Lunéville:

The Artistic Circle of Painters in Lunéville originally planned an exhibition of art works by an important French artist Alfred Renaudin. Later on, this event developed into an annual autumn exhibition, which became a major event of Chateau. As it is the mission of Salon d'Automne to organize a yearly

high standard art exhibition, all the participating artists are those whose background, works, experiences, literature on art works, or media coverage have been carefully studied by the Salon's selection committee before the invitation to exhibit was sent out to those selected artists.

Salon d'Automne used to take place in "Chateau de Lunéville" until a big flame, which broke out six years ago, destroyed the Chateau's main exhibition hall that the manifestation had to be transferred to Erckman Cultural Center, also known to be a major venue of culture and music for cities in the vicinity.

Brief Introduction of Chateau of Lunéville:

Chateau Lunéville is situated at the southwest of Lorraine in the east region of France. The City of Lunéville was extended from Chateau Lunéville, one of the important French historical sites. The Chateau Lunéville was built since the tenth century, initially for military defense. Up to the 17th century, Duke Leopold of the Lorraine Province intended to move his castle in the southwest region to the space of the Chateau and thus renovated the Chateau Lunéville into its present appearance.

The Chateau Lunéville was built as the Versailles of Lorraine as the architecture was based on the blueprint of the Chateau of Versailles in Paris. Later on, the surrounding areas of Chateau of Lunéville developed into city and have ever since been regarded the capital of art and culture of the entire Lorraine Province. In the 19th century, the city was even a major station of chivalry.

In 1901, Chateau was selected one of the important French historical sites. The main structure of the chateau is presently underneath the Ministry of Defense of France while the adjacent buildings are underneath the Council General of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
