Background of Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society (RCPS):
The society, founded in 1833, was the first polytechnic society in Britain. Its stated purpose was to encourage the useful arts and to elicit the ingenuity and inventive powers of the young. RCPS has helped technology advancement through sponsorship, awards, medals, and exhibitions, taking the role of the cradle for numerous significant inventions, such as air compression drill, Cornwall engine, microscope, Nitroglycerine use, etc. RCPS exhibited the profoundly important new camera technology in 1843! As the leading force of Britain industrial revolution, RCPS has been joined by scientists, engineers, and artists. The science journal published by RCPS is a highly distinguished periodical. The founder of the Nobel price has also exhibited in RCPS!

The Brief Introduction of the Poly-Main Gallery:
Established in 1835, the Poly-Main Gallery was originally for exhibits with topics related to technology, art, and literature. Theater was added in 1889 and even the first cinema practice permit was ever issued to RCPS. Housed in the Falmouth Arts Center, the Poly - Main Gallery features many tourist attractions. In addition to the IATTDA 2008 Summer Exhibition, the Poly-Main Gallery also holds concurrently an exhibit in Chellow Hall, which is connected to the other gallery.
