Lee Sun-Don, the Pioneer of Totemic Oil Painting as an Innovative Art Genre

Lee Sun-Don, the pioneer of Totemic Oil Painting, has realized the lifetime dream of a painter in a year. Chang Liu Gallery organized a solo exhibition for him in November, 2006, which was the first exhibition ever in his life. Up to the present, he has acquired the major art awards of international recognition; he has been invited to be the member artist of SAA Art Association in UK; he has been invited to exhibit in world renowned fine arts museums in Europe, the United States, and China. At least ten solo exhibitions have been scheduled for this year.

Lee Sun-Don is a new artist, however, with the amazing productivity. He has a huge production of more than 200 pieces, including the Diamond Sutra Series, the Heart Sutra, Totem Bang Series, Shangri-La Series, the King of Rula Series, and the Secular World Series, etc. He paints

fast and is able to finish a painting in twenty minutes. The styles and painting techniques are different in each series. The totems in the Diamond Sutra Series are very startling; the Heart Sutra Series are all in white, with white canvas, and white pigments. The most recent series of the Secular World Series is very contemporary in style.

Art is a talent, not necessarily going through the training. Lee Sun-Don is a self-taught artist. In other countries, Vincent van Gogh is an example.
