The Gallery of China Profiles, Xiamen was officially opened on December 30, 2006. The Gallery was renovated from the Xiamen Fisherman’s Wharf, built in the middle years of 1980. The local government of Xiamen commissioned the Honorable Board of Directors of the Chinese Youth Federation to reconstruct the old building of fish market into a large professional museum. With the support from the committee members of the Chinese Youth Federation and various communities, a professional art facilities of five exhibition halls in an area of 5000 square meter stands impressively in the golden district by the Yen-Wu Bridge, becoming a new cultural scenery of Xiamen.
Ever since then, Gallery of China Profiles, Xiamen functions primarily as the platform for art and cultural exchange between the two sides of Taiwan Straits owing to its specific geographic position. Adjacent to Xiamen University, the Gallery is affiliated with the University and the Gallery also takes the Art School of Xiamen University and the School's European Art Center as its resources in the promotion of the art and cultural exchange with the Central Europe. Naturally, as the extension of Chinese Youth Federation of the central government, Gallery of China Profiles, Xiamen, is the perfect platform for promoting the art works of the committee’s member artists.
The Gallery takes the style of elegance, high end, and exquisiteness to present as a "Palace of Decent Arts" where exhibitions of oil paintings and sculptures take place constantly. The Gallery of China Profiles, Xiamen is to form an artist committee comprised of the professionals of the Art School. All the exhibitions have to be approved and signed by the committee members to ensure the high quality and high standard of the art works in exhibit.
