Serving people of all these three regions, the association has organized for years many art activities in a French abbey preserved as a historical relics and a major tourist attraction. Abbey Sorèze has a long history of twelve centuries. It was originally a small church open to monks for prayers and to the local people and feudal lords for education. In the 17th century, it was renovated into a monastic school. In 1757, an educator came and established the abbey into an educational institution, offering special courses on ancient languages and other various subjects, with an objective of training students into man of wisdom and compassion. In the 18th century, Louis XIV once founded a military school in the abbey before crowning. At the present, Abbey Sorèze is a venue for exhibition and theater. |
