| Nanjing is not only the well-known historical city but also the chief center of Chinese art and culture. Nanjing Arts Institute was developed from Shanghai Chinese Art College founded in 1912. In a time of conservatism, Shanghai Chinese Art College was known for its open and innovative academic atmosphere for allowing both male and female students to enroll and for offering courses on the drawing of human body with real "poser," a step really pioneering in Chinese modern art. The school has educated many artists of international recognition; the deceased legendary woman artist Pan Yuliang who lived in Paris was one of the graduates of Shanghai Chinese Art College. By inviting Professor Lee for an individual exhibition, Nanjing Arts Institute accords with its founding spirit as an innovative art institute. The sixty art works in exhibit in the Nanjing Arts Institute include "O-One" series as its overseas debut, "Take a Seat" series, and "Alternative Vision" series, the three most recent creation of Professor Lee. Other recent works include "Colors in Colors series", "Moon series", and "Supreme Huayen – Grand Instantaneous Awakening series". |
