Background: The Fredericksburg Center for the creative Arts is a non-profit organization, housed in a historic building built in circa 1785 and is a partner with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Monthly, FCCA brings new art exhibits, special programs and events, and art classes for all ages for the Fredericksburg community. FCCA also funds lectures, poetry reading, and other cultural activities. Juror: Ms. Barbara Southworth takes the teaching position in universities in Northern Virginia. She is known to be skillful at the full shot of islands and forests in Maine. Her goal is to capture through the camera lens the indescribable characters of an area. Under the influence of her teacher Eliot Porter, her works were also rich in colors. She studied photography in Rochester Institute of Technology in her early years and majored in environment ecology in John Hopkins University (ranked the 15th place in global college ranking.) (Eliot Porter, 1901-1990, a reputed photography master well-known worldwide for his color photo of Nature’s ecology.) |
