“Freedom beyond Freedom” – a 120 x 162cm oil painting by Lee Sun-Don participated the Art#1 International Autumn Auction and closed deal at 18.5 million, exceeding the starting price by four times, and making the highest sales record among all contemporary artists in Taiwan.

The Art#1 International Autumn Auction took place in Grand Hotel Taipei in December 4, 2007. All the participating artworks were by renowned artists, including “The Morning Scene at the Bridge over Creek” by Chang Da-Chien, “White Flowers in the Yellow Vase” by Chang-Yu, “Bare Female” by Pan Yu-Liang, and several sculptures by Ju-Ming. Besides, artworks from the rising contemporary Chinese artists were also invited to participate, including “Freedom beyond Freedom” by Lee Sun-Don who has been acclaimed in Italy as “The Oriental Picasso of the 21st Century.” These startling auction items attracted much attention among Chinese art collectors and international art experts.

The bidding for “Freedom beyond Freedom” went enthusiastic, especially between the bidders from Paris and from the United States. With a deal closed at 18.5 millions, Lee Sun-Don made the highest sales record among contemporary artists in Taiwan.
