“Zen – Thus is Realized” Solo Exhibition in Singapore
Time : November 14 ~ 18, 2007 This exhibition was held in the place of the first choice for any art and culture exhibitions in Singapore: The ARTruim MICA Building. The opening ceremony started with an opening remarks by Dr. Kah-Leong Ho, President of Federation of Art Societies, Singapore, with participation of many highly distinguished attendees including Ambassador Dong-Huang Ho, Taipei’s Representative in Singapore, Mr. Huang Chen-Chi, Director of Chiang-Liu Art Museum in Taiwan, Mr. Yen-Yi Hsu, President of Singapore Art Society, Mr. Zhen-Qiang Zhao, Singapore Society of Chinese Artists, Ms. Yu-Lan Ren, President of Singapore Art Teacher Society, etc. Dr. Kah-Leong Ho, President of Federation of Art Societies, Singapore stated in the opening ceremony, “I was totally absorbed into these paintings that are full of Zen meanings upon looking at them, especially because he expounded profound Buddhist doctrine through oil on canvas. This is not a simple, nor an easy thing to do. Therefore, Master Lee’s paintings are considered artworks of great value.” Ambassador Dong-Huang Ho, Taipei’s Representative in Singapore stated in his speech, “Master Lee Sun-Don is so versatile that only Zen Master Hung-Yi can be mentioned as a comparison in Chinese Buddhist art history…Deemed as the National Treasure of Taiwan, Master Lee is a remarkable man of religion, letters and art, whose artworks are earnestly collected by art experts worldwide.”As a pivotal character in the contemporary art in Taiwan, Mr. Huang Chen-Chi, Director of Chiang-Liu Art Museum pointed out, “I was astonished by Master Lee Sun-Don’s paintings from the first time I saw them last year…His works are truly original, being the totem of universe realized in his deep meditation. This is something that has never been achieved, which is also the point so unique in his artworks…I believe that Master Lee Sun-Don is a rising star that will definitely sparkle brilliantly over the entire world!” |
