2017 Art Revolution Taipei Zen Meaning in Stainless Steel Statues Original Heart of Guanyin Transformation 
The spiritual theme of this year's A.R.T. is“The aspiration with which it all started～ start with the first piece of work”. To correspond with this theme, Art Director Lee Sun-Don particularly displays this year his meaningful large-scale sculpture of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva. Since the ancient times till today, many great art masters, such as Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Zhang Daqian and so on, all took the religion as the theme of their creations. In 2006, in order to facilitate the study of Buddhism, Lee Sun-Don began to teach Buddhism through painting, opening up the road leading to the arts. The first painting was the totemic portrait of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva. To Lee Sun-Don taking Buddhist practice as his lifetime mission, Thousand-Hand Guanyin is not only the great Bodhisattva that he is most familiar with, but also the mission assigned to him by his mentor Primary Patriarch Yuan-Dao Bodhisattva: build up a Thousna-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva Holy Statue, taking compassion as its height, the causation across three lives as the breadth. Having devoted himself to the artistic creation, Lee Sun-Don found that the artists were caught in a very difficult situation in Taiwan. Based on the spirit of “compassion and sympathy of no differentiation”, Lee endeavored to organize alone the Art Revolution Taipei which had its debut in 2011. Lee hopes that through this innovative art exhibition those Taiwan's artists with potential are able to fulfill their dreams, to be able to stand on the art stage of the world, and also hopes that at the same time his missionary project assigned by his mentor will proceed along with his continuous efforts. To correspond with the spiritual theme of A.R.T. in its seventh year, Lee Sun-Don turned his first graphic painting of Thousand-Hand Guanyin into the 3D large-scale outdoor statues, a bold piece made of 316 stainless steel and titanium, with a total of 56 meters in height. In 2017, the Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva Sitting Buddha Statue is to be completed. The work of YuanDao Guanyin Temple in Danshui will not only be the new landmark of the Northern Taiwan, but also an art project making the Guinness World Records, becoming the world first highest sculpture presenting the image of Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva. Displayed in the Art Curatorial section are the Thousand-Hand Thousand-Eye Guanyin Bodhisattva sculptures (partial, Buddha head) by Art Director Lee Sun-Don, created to present the original aspiration with which he began his artistic creation and his organizing A.R.T., being magnificent and moving! Also displayed in the Art Curatorial section are the “Guanyin Transformation” sculpture series, which is full of environmental awareness and Buddhist Zen meaning. The series is created with scrap stainless steel of Bodhisattva statue, painted with totems, mounted on a matching base of thousand years old Taiwan Incense Cedar, Rosewood, or Camphorwood, paved with sands of the Ganges River, representing that each sculpture is a Guanyin Transformation.
