In May 2018, Professor Lee Sun-Don's "Love Across Centuries" series, created with a hundred pieces of centuries-old antique violins, astonished the "Art Revolution Taipei. On October 18, 2018, “In Memory of A Great Patriarch VI" violin concerto No. 3 “100 • My Heart”, arranged from Lee Sun-Don's original music with these antique violins, will have its world premiere at the National Concert Hall in Taipei. The art and music cross-border creation once again became a subject of talk. This grand event combining art and music is performed by the Pro Arte Orchestra Taiwan led by Professor Liao Chia-Hong and the violinist Huang Mei-Ching.


Professor Lee Sun-Don expressed affectionately, "In my whole life I only compose for my teacher to whom I am so deeply grateful."

The year 2018 marks the anniversary of the Primary Patriarch of Forshang Buddhism Yuan-Dao Bodhisattva's hundredth birthday. Out of deepest and sincerest gratitude toward his mentor, Professor Lee Sun-Don created the original music on violin, and invited the teacher Yen Pey-Wen to arrange it into “In Memory of A Great Patriarch VI” Violin Concerto No.3, “100 • My Heart.”

Professor Lee Sun-Don expressed affectionately, "In my whole life I only compose for my teacher to whom I am so deeply grateful. When someone's memories and longings exceed what he can take, perhaps all that is there is the melody, and no more word."

On January 13, 1999, Professor Lee Sun-Don recalled his teacher Yuan-Dao Bodhisattva. Drown in the welling thoughts, Professor Lee played the piano in Hawaii and created the first piece of the piano suite “Patriarch” - "Memories by the Sea." Until today in 2018, over the past ten years, Professor Lee has created dozens of musical pieces for his teacher. This year's “In Memory of a Great Patriarch VI” was created by Professor Lee to commemorate his teacher, the second Patriarch of Forshang Buddhism Yuan Dao Bodhisattva's hundredth birthday. Yuan Dao Bodhisattva, with the given name Luo Lei, and known as Yun Feng after deceased, was born on November 1, 1918, in Zhenkang County, Yunnan Province. Yuan Dao Bodhisattva was found since his childhood to be inherent with great wisdom, having an extraordinary nature and high comprehension, difference from peers. At the age of fourteen, he converted to Miao-Kung Primary Patriarch Bodhisattva and received the great non-form discipline. After 20 years of diligent practice, he testified the spiritual body in 1956 and continued the preaching of Buddhist doctrines for the rest of his life. His disciples are all over the world.

“The Night of Pro Arte – In Memory of a Great Patriarch” Charity Concert has entered the sixth year. The high-level performances and tacit understanding have been widely recognized and praised by the fans. The main piece of the concert program that day, the Violin Concerto No. 3 “100 • My Heart”, was completed by the original music composer Professor Lee Sun-Don and the arranger Yen Fey-Wen. Professor Lee Sun-Don and Yen Fey-Wen, once won in the 18th Golden Melody Awards the "Best Composer of Traditional and Artistic Music" for "In Memory of a Great Patriarch II". As soon as the news of the grand concert held the last time five years ago was released, the tickets were pre-ordered by many philharmonic fans. The charity concert poster is based on the painting "Holy Patriarch / The Holy Flowers All Over" created by Professor Lee. It is a perfect cross-border cooperation between art and music.

Professor Liao Jiahong has lived in Vienna for 19 years, and was imbued with the cultural atmosphere of the capital of music. His profound artistic and cultural connotation and exquisite musical interpretation expressed in various performances, teachings and conductor activities, has already made him a prestigious feature in Taiwan's music world. M. Ruedenauer, the authoritative music critic of the Vienna Music Festival, praised Professor Liao: "The performance is of a General's style, with a confident musical style and oriental charm."

This concert invited the US violinist Huang Mei-Ching as the violin solo. Ms. Huang Mei-Ching is currently the first violin member of The Philadelphia Orchestra and a member of the Voyage Quartet. During her stay in the United States, Ms. Huang Mei-Ching won the first place in the 2003 Marbury violin competition, and won the competition awards in the American Hellam Young Artist Competition and the Yale Gordon Concerto Competition. In 2004, Huang Mei-Ching was a young soloist at the National Symphony Orchestra and won the second place. Ms. Huang also performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto at the Kennedy Center with her exquisite and delicate music. In February 2008, she performed with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in Asia. Her rich experiences in winning awards and in performances has won her the recognition of the international music circle.

The first half of the concert, the violin concerto No. 3 “100 • My Heart” takes the commemorating of the second Patriarch of Forshang Buddhism Yuan Dao Bodhisattva as the theme. All the notes of memories, like numerous dots of starlight, scattered in each movement of music. The sound of the piano will slowly spread out infinite gratitude and longing. The second half will lead the audience to relive the classic movie songs and recall the past feelings. The performances include some famous movie songs, like "Somewhere in Time", "Castle in the Sky", "The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring", "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Game of Thrones"...

In the 8th Art Revolution Taipei in 2018, Prof. Lee hand-painted the totems on the violin, creating a series of “Love Across Centuries” that gave a new life to the centuries-old antique violins. Professor Lee has self-studied violin and cello and has deep feelings for the violin. Professor Lee Sun-Don has collected centuries-old antique violins with excellent appearance and sound quality from the world, and depicted the original energy totems on the violins. "Totemic Energy Art" takes Chinese culture as the root to combine with Western painting, and integrates the lines of "totem" of ancient civilization and wisdom into it, opening a unique new artistic conception with unique personal characteristics. Professor Lee Sun-Don hopes to present the universe, the nature and the glory of humanity in the works through deeper understanding of Chinese culture and the soul, so that the viewer's heart can feel calmness, brightness, perfection and goodness, achieving spiritual communication with the viewer.
