The first Tokyo Photo 2009 was a huge success – in the opening reception of the preview, Man Ray's famous vintage work "Kiki" presented by Zeit-Foto Salon was sold for US$54000. This year's Tokyo Photo 2010 which will be held in Tokyo's major business district of Roppongi Hills has invited Lee Sun-Don, a contemporary artist who has been awarded to participate in 25 major photo contests so far this year, to exhibit his current photography series "Deva Angel", "Art's Art", "This is Love", "My Inspiration RNA" and "Smiling Area". Internationally reputed for his Totemic Energy Oil Paintings, Lee Sun-Don was the first Asian artist ever to be invited to have a solo exhibition in an individual venue at Venice Biennale. For precisely grasping the changes in "lighting" and "images", and also taking it as a self-challenge, Lee branched out into photography from the beginning of this year and has been ever since awarded to participate in 25 major international photography competitions, including "Trierenberg Super circuit" also known as the Oscar in photography, and "38th PSNY International Salon of Color Photography 2010" in New York. Professor Lee's latest series: "This is Love" is composed of three elements – metal screw, rose, and stone and "Deva Angel" was inspired by the murals of flying deities in the Grottoes of Dunhuang China and have received international acclaims. The "Deva Angel" series have been selected for many major international photography juried exhibitions, including "38th PSNY International Salon of Color Photography 2010"in New York and "Golden Spurs 2010" in Belgium. "Art's Art" series combines the totemic energy oil painting with photography, demonstrating an innovative concept – "Dual Creation of Art". "Smiling Area" and "landscape" are series Professor Lee created during his attending of art exhibitions held overseas which fully demonstrate his insightful talent in identifying and capturing profound moments. They have been accepted into "Photo of the Year 2009/2010 Filderstadt in Germany". |
